Of 491 products assessed, 27 are withheld from sale on regulatory grounds. Here is which ones, why, and the text that requires it.

That distinction is not a detail. It would have been more striking to announce that 105 products are withheld — and it would have been false: 78 of them are perfectly lawful, our supplier simply does not ship them to Belgium. The regulatory figure, the one describing an actual ban, is 27.
The list below is not maintained by hand. It is recomputed at every deploy from the compliance gate that decides, product by product, what may be sold. It can therefore neither go stale nor be massaged.
Unresolved Novel Food status
7Any ingredient without significant consumption history in the Union before May 1997 must be authorised before being marketed. Without authorisation, sale is unlawful — however popular it is elsewhere.

Medicinal status in one or more Member States
5The line between food supplement and medicine is drawn by the substance and its dose, not the product. When a substance is classified as a medicine anywhere in the Union, selling it as a supplement risks reclassification — and withdrawal.

5Cannabidiol falls under a restrictive Belgian framework that varies by route of administration and content. A CBD cosmetic does not follow the same rules as a supplement, and the position is not uniform across the Union.

Dose above the Belgian ceiling
3An authorised substance may be authorised only below a given dose. Above it, another regime applies. Melatonin is one such case: its European claim starts at 1 mg, but the national ceiling is a separate matter.
